After graduating from Swarthmore College in 1905, Paul studied social work and earned a PhD. She remained in England from 1907 to 1910 studying casework for a London settlement house. It was there that she began to take an interest in politics. Eventually, she joined the Women's Suffrage Movement to battle for something she had long understood: men and women were created equal.
